New report predicts mobile computing and open content will be key learning technologies in 2010
Ever wonder what the next big thing is going to be in classroom technology? If you're trying to get a handle on what tools to consider and begin learning about for inclusion in upcoming semesters, this month's new report from the New Media Consortium will be a great resource. As part of NMC's Emerging Technologies Initiative, the Horizon project and report outlines new technologies that relate to higher ed teaching and learning, and examines how these technologies can be used in the classroom and beyond.
This month, NMC released its 2010 Horizon Report Preview, which gives an overview at what technologies the group predicts will experience wide adoption in the coming year, as well as what technologies are believed to be in the pipeline in the next 2-5 years.
According to the report, mobile computing and open content will be a major part of new learning initiatives in developing countries and here in the states over the next year. The report provides a number of sources outlining how mobile computing and open content have already been used in learning situations, and also highlights key trends across different technology platforms.
