Faculty Affairs Institutional Readiness

Interfolio joined forces with Tyton Partners to interview faculty affairs professionals from public and private institutions across the country. The research gathered from the world of faculty affairs helped to inform a new model for success. Our Faculty Affairs Institutional Readiness (FAIR) model can help colleges and universities better understand the faculty affairs landscape and advocate for their teams.

Take the self-assessment to reflect on best practices across five main components, and be sure to check out the additional resources for a deeper dive into the insights from our research.

The State of Faculty Affairs: Results of the 2024 Survey

In our recent survey of 177 faculty affairs professionals conducted with the Higher Education Recruitment Consortium (HERC), 58% of respondents agreed that collecting and managing data about faculty and their work has become more challenging in the last two years. Adding to the stress, 47% agreed that they are under increased pressure to demonstrate faculty members’ work.

Case Study: Sul Ross State University

Sul Ross State University implemented Interfolio Review, Promotion & Tenure to deliver a smoother review process for its 178 faculty members—especially those with unique items to include in their packet, like those in Fine Arts disciplines. “You can get a list of their works, but it’s just not the same as being able to click on a link to hear it, see it, and almost experience what it was like to be there,” shared Michelle Lancaster, Director of Academic Affairs at Sul Ross. “It’s so much more evocative, and you can just understand so much better what’s involved—the effort, the work, the blood, sweat, and tears.”
